{"id":9045,"date":"2011-12-19T12:08:44","date_gmt":"2011-12-19T18:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thecakeblog.com\/?p=9045"},"modified":"2017-03-28T07:53:10","modified_gmt":"2017-03-28T11:53:10","slug":"diy-sparkling-christmas-trees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecakeblog.com\/2011\/12\/diy-sparkling-christmas-trees.html","title":{"rendered":"Sparkling Christmas Trees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, so I know I&#8217;m not the only one who isn&#8217;t quite ready for Christmas.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re still getting your goodies and sweets together, I have one last DIY project for you today.\u00a0 It&#8217;s incredibly easy and quick but with impressive results.\u00a0 I did this project from start to finish {including photos and clean up} during nap time on Sunday.\u00a0 So when I say quick, I mean quick!\u00a0\u00a0 Ice cream cones get a coating of shimmering, sanding sugar and&#8230; Voil\u00e0!\u00a0 <strong>Sparkling Christmas Trees!<\/strong> An elegant decoration for your holiday cakes and cupcakes.\u00a0 Or simply arrange numerous trees on a cake stand or elegant serving tray for a festive centerpiece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"left aligncenter\" title=\"Christmas_TIce Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees \" alt=\"Christmas_TIce Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees \" src=\"https:\/\/thecakeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Christmas_Tree_3.jpg\" width=\"546\" height=\"402\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"left\" title=\"Ice Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees\" alt=\"Ice Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees\" src=\"https:\/\/thecakeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/christmas_tree_diy-13.jpg\" width=\"546\" height=\"714\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"left\" title=\"Ice Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees \" alt=\"Ice Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees \" src=\"https:\/\/thecakeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Christmas_Tree_4.jpg\" width=\"546\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll do&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"left\" title=\"Ice Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees\" alt=\"Ice Cream Cone - Sparkling Christmas Trees\" src=\"https:\/\/thecakeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/christmas_tree_cone_diy.jpg\" width=\"546\" height=\"499\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sparkling Christmas Tree Toppers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Tools:<\/em><br \/>\nIce Cream Cones (various sizes)<br \/>\nCandy Melts (white)<br \/>\nSparkling Sugar \/ Sanding Sugar \/ Sugar Pearls<\/p>\n<p><em>Instructions:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt white candy coating in microwave as directed on package.\u00a0 Stir until smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Dip ice cream cone into melted candy.\u00a0 {I found it easiest to roll the cone on its side since my bowl was not deep enough to dip straight down.}\u00a0 Let excess candy drip off.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle with sanding sugar, sugar pearls or sprinkles of choice.\u00a0 {I found it easiest to place the cone onto two fingers to hold, so as to not leave any finger marks}.\u00a0 Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle until all areas of the cone are covered.<\/li>\n<li>Set onto parchment or wax paper until hard.\u00a0 This is a good time to touch up any areas you missed.\u00a0 They firm up nice and quick and will actually be quite solid once set.\u00a0 Place on top of a cake or cupcake for super easy decoration!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>TIP: Sprinkle the cone over a bowl so that your extra sprinkles go back into the bowl, so you can reuse.\u00a0 If you use waffle cones, be sure to break a little bit off to even out the bottom, so that the cone will stand up on its own, before coating.<\/p>\n<p>Whether they top off your delectable homemade goodies, pretty up some store bought sweets or provide a Christmas activity for the kiddos\u2026 I hope you enjoy these ice cream cone <strong>Sparkling Christmas Trees! <\/strong>Up next, the conclusion of our <em>12 Cakes of Christmas<\/em> series.\u00a0 Cake #10 coming soon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, so I know I&#8217;m not the only one who isn&#8217;t quite ready for Christmas.
