Last weekend my family\u00a0had the chance to go strawberry picking.\u00a0Have you ever been? This is our third year to drive out to the same little farm and spend the morning\u00a0picking fresh berries. It has become a family tradition of sorts, something we look forward to each year. With a sack lunch in tow and a\u00a0camera around my neck, we make an event out of it. My daughter endlessly searches for the most delectable berries, bright red and juicy, while my husband kindly obliges as I take way too many photos.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It’s one of those times where our phones and tablets are out of reach. There are no emails awaiting a response, no mindless scrolling on social media, no scandalous news article to read, no Pinterest perfection to make you painfully aware of your imperfections. Just the fresh air and rolling hills of grass gently swaying in the breeze. The rows and rows of strawberry plants waiting for us to\u00a0discover their petite jewels. We like to call them nature’s candy because the small little berries you pick yourself are in no way related to the overgrown, oversized hard berries you find in the grocery store. No, these berries are small but mighty when it comes to flavor and tenderness. In the distance are goats and horses and blooming blackberry bushes that will surely beacon us back later this summer.<\/p>\n

It has become an outing that I treasure, knowing\u00a0that it’s the start of a new summer story. But that’s the beauty of summer, isn’t it? The extra hours of sunlight are gently nudging\u00a0us to get outside, to soak in these next few months, and celebrate each other. The possibilities of summer are endless. Maybe this is the summer you’ll make jam, or plant a garden, or start a morning exercise routine. Maybe you’ll get away on a vacation or go camping in your own backyard. Whatever you’re dreaming about right now…. get out there and DO IT! What will fill the pages of your summer story? I’d love to hear about it in the comment section.<\/p>\n
