The costume was simply necessary in order to get said candy. We\u2019d go door to door for hours. Then when my brother and I were done trick-or-treating, we\u2019d pour all our candy out onto the floor, sort it and then trade the candy we didn\u2019t like for other candy. Of course Butterfingers have always been a big hit. The cupcake is light, fluffy and full of peanut butter. And to make sure it has that extra special Butterfinger flavor, it has bits of the candy that are crushed up and added right to the batter. Just a tip \u2013 if you have a food chopper, that was the easiest and quickest way to crush up the Butterfinger. Do not skimp on the amount of mixing time.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-3\">Add sour cream and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-4\">Add egg whites in two batches, mixing until well combined after each. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to be sure all ingredients are well incorporated.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-5\">In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. In a separate small measuring cup, combine the milk and water.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-6\">Add half of the dry ingredients to the batter and mix until well combined. Add the milk mixture and mix until well combined. Add remaining dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to be sure all ingredients are well incorporated.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-7\">Stir in the crushed butterfingers.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-8\">Fill the cupcake liners about halfway. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few crumbs.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-9\">Remove cupcakes from oven and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes, then remove to cooling rack to finish cooling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Make the Chocolate Ganache:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-10\">Add the chocolate chips to a medium sized bowl. Microwave the heavy whipping cream until it almost comes to a boil.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-11\">Pour the cream over the chocolate chips, cover the bowl with clear wrap for 3-4 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Set aside to cool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Make the Peanut Butter Frosting:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-12\">While the chocolate ganache cools, make the frosting. Combine the butter, peanut butter and shortening with a mixer until smooth.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-13\">Add about half of the powdered sugar and mix until smooth and well combined.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-14\">Add 2-3 tablespoons of water or milk to the frosting and mix until well combined.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-15\">Add remaining powdered sugar and mix until smooth.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-16\">Add additional water or milk, as needed, to get the right consistency, then stir in the crushed butterfinger. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-17\">Spread a layer of chocolate ganache onto the top of each cupcake.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-18\">Pipe the frosting onto the top of each cupcake.
