\u00a0The trending orange squash seems to make its way into all of our goods these days. \u00a0From coffee to candles, everything comes in a &#8220;pumpkin spice&#8221; variety. \u00a0This cake is no exception, yet it uses pumpkin in a bit more unexpected and modern way. \u00a0Let me introduce you to the Pumpkin Tiramisu Cake!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter dessert that is traditionally served more like a trifle and turn it into a layer cake, I&#8217;ve switched up a few of the flavors to make it more than appropriate for all the cold months and holidays ahead. \u00a0Most importantly, I swapped out the lady fingers for layers of delicious pumpkin cake &#8211; now that is a trend I&#8217;m sure everyone can get on board with.<\/p>\n<p><img 387w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Traditional tiramisu or &#8220;pick me-up&#8221; is all about the booze, coffee, and creamy filling. \u00a0Sticking with the classic dessert-theme, I created a Heritage frosting (aka Ermine or Cooked-Flour) that still utilized tiramisu&#8217;s familiar mascarpone filling. \u00a0This type of frosting is creamy and fluffy &#8211; it still reminds me of the filling used in a regular tiramisu, yet not nearly as rich and without the eggs. \u00a0Instead of rum or marsala wine, the cakes were brushed with a soak made from coffee liqueur to better compliment the pumpkin flavor. \u00a0A shower of chocolate shavings or cocoa powder over the top makes this cake even more stunning and awe-worthy for the holidays.<\/p>\n<p><img data-tasty-recipes-customization=\"body-color.color\">\n\t\t\t<p>Make the Pumpkin Spice Cake:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-1\">Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. \u00a0Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans and set aside.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-2\">Sift together the\u00a0flour, baking powder and pumpkin pie spice. \u00a0Set aside.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-3\">Using an electric mixer, beat the butter until creamy. \u00a0Add in the oil, sugar, brown sugar and mix until combined.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-4\">Add in the eggs, one at a time, and mix until combined.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-5\">In two batches, stir in the dry ingredients.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-6\">Fold in the pumpkin puree.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-7\">Divide the batter between the two prepared pans and bake for about 25 to 28 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes before removing the cakes from their pans.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Make the Coffee Soak:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-8\">Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan and place over medium-high heat. \u00a0Bring the minute to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-9\">Simmer for about 10 minutes or until the syrup thickens slightly. \u00a0Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Make the Frosting:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-10\">Place the flour, salt, and milk in a medium saucepan. \u00a0Whisk until combined and there are no lumps from the flour.<\/li>\n<li id=\"instruction-step-11\">Stirring with a wooden spoon, heat over medium-high until the mixture begins to thicken and large bubbles begin to break on the surface. \u00a0The mixture will look thick and pasty when done. \u00a0Remove from the heat and transfer the flour mixture to heat-safe container.
