It’s our third annual<\/strong> holiday series…. The 12 Cakes of Christmas<\/a><\/strong>!!\u00a0 We’re oohing and aahing over twelve marvelous cake designs, created especially for this series!\u00a0 All brand new, never seen before, and created by some of your favorite bakers! \u00a0\u00a0 For our theme this year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our favorite Christmas memories and traditions.\u00a0 It’s a feel good month, celebrating the little things that make this season shine bright.\u00a0 Each of our featured bakers was asked to create a cake based on a classic Christmas tradition.<\/p>\n

And now it’s time for cake number eight.\u00a0 Our eighth cake celebrates a beloved family tradition filled with dancing snowflakes and sugar plum fairies.\u00a0 A magical night at the ballet where heroic toy soldiers and mischievous mice battle it out amidst gorgeous sets, elaborate costumes and graceful dancers floating on air.\u00a0 The Eighth Cake of Christmas<\/strong> was inspired by…. the Nutcracker!<\/p>\n

The eighth cake in our series comes to us from Jenna Illchuk, owner of Jenna Rae Cakes<\/a><\/strong> located in Winnipeg, Canada.\u00a0 This is Jenna’s first year to join us for our holiday series, but she’s definitely not a newbie when it comes to creating gorgeous cakes!\u00a0 We fell in love with her mint and gold cake table<\/a> back in 2012 and we’ve been fans ever since.\u00a0 Jenna has a style that is soft, feminine and downright fabulous.\u00a0 With a bottom tier as frilly as a tutu, today’s cake captures the elegance of the ballet and the gorgeous details of the costumes.\u00a0 An entire tier of vertical ribbons flows as gracefully as satin ties on pointe shoes.\u00a0 And let’s talk about the sparkle.\u00a0 You are going to flip over the glittery goodness that Jenna has created!\u00a0 Tiers of silver sequins shimmer and twinkle like a ballerina gliding across the stage.\u00a0 While clusters of delicate sugar flowers add that extra pinch of pretty.\u00a0 It’s absolutely breathtaking!\u00a0 And it’s The 8th Cake of Christmas!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jenna of\u00a0Jenna Rae Cakes<\/a> shares the inspiration for her design:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“My inspiration for this cake was a night out at the ballet. I think dressing up and heading out into the snow to watch the Nutcracker was such a great Christmas memory for me. I remember the beautiful ballerinas, the sparkly costumes and awe inspiring sets.”<\/p>\n

Jenna of\u00a0Jenna Rae Cakes<\/a> tells us about her technique:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I decided to use the ballerinas costumes as inspiration.\u00a0 The tutus inspired the bottom frilled tier.\u00a0 The vertical ribbons represent the ballerinas shoes, and the silver sequins represent the sparkle from their beautiful costumes.<\/p>\n

I really love how this cake turned out, and I think it beautifully represents the ballet in a subtle way.”<\/p>\n
